A Devil's own....City?

Image
Mythology is a body of myth and teachings that revolve around Rakshasa and Assuras The effigy of Ravana,(the rakshasa) that we  burn religiously every year at the Ramlila grounds is our way keeping alive our belief that good will always triumph over evils. However the futility of our belief is that today evils have totally spread their wings and yet we keep simmering in our hope that someday the good will cut the wings of  the soaring evil... We are  not blissfully anonymous to the rotting sate of affairs of a state that once we blissfully believed to be vibrant and hearty. We are very much annoyed about the city turning devilish. We are quite vociferousness about it, yet we pretend to remain as helpless as those little children who  remain devoured and devastated almost every day at every nook and corner of this city just for being born a  GIRL... We also remain majorly guilty of these heinous crime of rapes in the city  because it is we who believed and voted a CM wh

Calling Munnabhai a "Papu"!

He is one of the finest actor. Perhaps the only one in the Bollywood who refused to buckle down in spite of  terrible traumas and  tragedies of  life.  Perhaps he is one of the best example of a never say die attitude. His guts and grits can be immensely motivating for persons running away from life and its realities. His Bollywood journey has been both rocky and rocking. At a time when his professional obituary was almost being written he bounced back with "Munna Bhai MBBS".This movie became a runaway success and a cult classic. He is one among the few in Bollywood who gets along famously with every one from  the three  Khans, to the macho Akshay and from big B to solo Govinda. His sheer presence in the movie screen has many times become reasons for the movie to create ripples at the box office. From Vastav to Khalnayak, from Aatish to Agneepeth he has always come out as a power house of superlative performance. I don't subscribe to any fan club yet I hav

Being on 'tracks'..a need for 'story telling'..

Image
' Once Upon' is always a most likable story telling style. However it is keeping the 'story line' on the track that generates reader's interest to read the book instead of simply  browsing through its pages. Rishi Vohra the author of the novel "Once Upon the Tracks of Mumbai" holds a Masters Diploma in Environmental Law. He has recently re-located to Mumbai after completing a Green MBA from San Francisco State University. He is also a certified specialist of Wine. This is his first novel When I saw the typical Bollywood Poster style cover of the Book "Once Upon the Tracks of Mumbai", it never gave that grab and read kind of feeling. Perhaps it is this reason that saw me putting off the review for so long.. Well now that I have read through its pages all 266 of them I do feel it did draw me in like the sparkling wine. With  all the right con cotes  this novel has all the winning streaks  for a Bollywood adoption. specially at a time

You can't deny this fact that the  attitude of the Prime Minister of a Nation is nothing but the reflection of the Nation itself.  Our PM's  silence on everything including life threatening situations of the citizens  are  nothing for us to be ashamed of because that's the way we  too are! If Rajiv Gandhi was nick named "Chalta Hai" it jolly well also portrays our image as a nation and as citizens of this great MY INDIA From Nehru to Rajiv Gandhi and to Manmohan Singh there has been no much tilt on our National attitude. Through the years the flow of our  great Rivers have stagnated into clogged up  drains. Our rich heritage and our culture of co-existence have over the years taken heavy beatings. We keep mending our minds through the process of pilgrimage to temples, shrines and holly dips in Ganges, yet our  mind continuous to remain  mentally chocked and perverted. We say we can't see others suffering, yet  we continue our cruelty to animals.

Let us break our bond with these....

In the name of women empowerment, the family members of politicians, the Bollywood actors and socialites get inducted into the Parliament, the very source of power that can run, ruin, derail, or delight the Democracy of the people and their mandate. The magnitude of our Parliament's responsibility and accountability for up keeping the welfare and safety of the people remain well documented  in the political scripture that we call Constitution of Republic of India. Unless you have the patience to read the  Constitution cover to cover, you will always remain under-estimating the powers of our Democracy  and the institution of governance..... If the rape cases in Delhi as  reported and statistic ed  is alarming, then the actual count of such rapes and brutality will be nothing less than a Macabre of sorts. The public or still better the Police in Delhi may  have lost the count of Rapes reported. However once in a while when the  the Media becomes hyper in covering a  Rape

This is Politician's and not People's.....?

From Sonia-ism to Mamta-ism, from Maya-ism to Mulla..yam-ism this country is getting pushed into a political-ism that  demands political appeasement not political reforms. I am sure unless you are  mentally deranged you will never call a demand for  promotional quota for Dalits and going overboard in appeasing  minorities  as any sane  measures of political reforms. The quota politics if carried on can  seriously start  compromising the quality and standard of performance that can eventually jeopardize the economy, commerce and  even the security of the country. Today it remains a major cause of Brain Drain. The ism that we see and applaud has  neither the colour of socialism, nor the look of capitalism. It is all the way  political ism ..Here is a sneak peek...read on.... In Delhi there is a serious shortage of graveyards for burying the dead and gone ordinary people, while 300 acres of prime land remain occupied by the dead and gone politicians and additionally over 10 crore

We...rock.....because of You...

My dear fellow citizens of this great India......'Names-tee'. I am grateful to the almighty for giving me this privilege of addressing such a mammoth crowd. This privilege has come my way not because of what I am but because of who I am. My great Grandfather, my Grandmother and my Father also addressed such mammoth crowds in their own different timelines. To me you all remain a face in the crowd as much as it was for them. I remain both hurt and moved. I am hurt because you claim the country has gone to dogs. I am moved because in spite of your claim you still continue to wag your tails and  happy to be leashed and led. My party may be publicly annoyed  when the politicians opposed to our  thoughts and deeds lash at us on  the floor of the Parliament. But in the hearts of heart we are  happy to keep them  so engaged  in dis -engaging the parliament . Believe me it majorly saves us from carrying  the burden of being guilty of non performance. Your war cries against us

Once upon a time when Bombay was most preferred city for the Inter State migrants, it grew up and  became  the most Cosmopolitan of all the Metro Cities of India. Also in the process  became the Mecca for job seekers and a  destination for the Dream Merchants.... .. Then came the tidal waves of  Regionalism , which  left Bombay consumed  with the spirit of 'Marathaism', spewing hate for all  Non-Maharashtrians domiciled in Bombay..... Every one from  Gujaratis  to Marwaris from Punjabis to Biharis, from UP Bhaiyas to Bengal's Bhadralok and from Maloos to Madrases  started becoming the target for harassment and rowdyism..... This is the story of the emergence of Shiv Sena , a political party and a political ideology  scripted and nurtured by a man  called "Balasaheb Thackeray".  Gradually Bombay went on to  become Mumbai and Balasaheb Thackeray started  literally  ruling  the city. Some where in his political journey  he also went on to become an un- pro

Let's give weight to our 'class'....

Neither here nor there , yet we remain the main thrust in pushing the consumer sale for every thing from TV to Hatchback. If Indigo and Spice Jets are making money,it is because we have become their frequent travelers  Even brands like "Tanishq" has come to respect our presence. We may be irrelevant for the politicians, but we matter the most for growth and health of the exchequer.. We may still not be ready for taking those ocean cruise but thanks to those Holiday packages we do are affording once in a while a Macao and Mauritius vacations. We are no more ignored Banking Customers. We have now become the bread and butter of retail banking products like personal loans, Car loans and Home loans .  If SaS Aur  Bahu TV serials are able to make it to 1000 episodes, it is because of our viewership  If advt. agency is able to save paying a 50 odd corers to Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar for a bike advt. shoot, it is because we are able to replace him realistically. A story of eroding ethics and.....?

I am not anymore sure whether Banking is all about business integrity and customer trust. I am neither sure if  I am influenced by the novel "THE BANKSTER"  that I just finished reading. After all novels are supposed to be fiction and not ground realities  This 365 pager thriller is sure to take you through the sources and cycle of money laundering and at the end it is bound to make you scream...."OMG".... The author of "The Bankster" is a alumnus of IIM Calcutta. His debut novel 'If God was Banker' won him Golden Quill Readers Choice award in year 2008.  Ravi Subramaniam, the author is sure going great guns. His this  novel "The Bankster" has all the ingredients that can see him as emerging John Grisham on this side of the Atlantic. We are generally awed by great Corporate  Bank and their work culture.  and  the intricacy of  their policies. We do believe in the corporate HR fraternity when they say their employee related policie
