. In this digital age Face Book has become a major source for staying in touch with friends right from School days to College times to your one time office associates to your current associates of senior citizen clubs. Over the years I have become so addicted to FB that the first thing in the morning post coffee I  sit with my I pad scrolling  my feed in the FB On the 26th of November early in the morning as I was scrolling through my feeds in FB, suddenly I noticed a photo with a caption  श्रद्धांजलि.....that left me simply numbed .It was like a punch to my heart which made it surge so hard that for a moment I thought it will stop. It was the photograph of my very close friend from college days Pramod Bajpai. Our friendship dates back to late 60's  those were  our college days . Pramod ,I still don't want to believe that you are gone.I know even if I close my eyes and pray you will not come back but memories of our 50 years of friendship will keep li

Once upon a time when Bombay was most preferred city for the Inter State migrants, it grew up and  became  the most Cosmopolitan of all the Metro Cities of India. Also in the process  became the Mecca for job seekers and a  destination for the Dream Merchants.... .. Then came the tidal waves of  Regionalism , which  left Bombay consumed  with the spirit of 'Marathaism', spewing hate for all  Non-Maharashtrians domiciled in Bombay..... Every one from  Gujaratis  to Marwaris from Punjabis to Biharis, from UP Bhaiyas to Bengal's Bhadralok and from Maloos to Madrases  started becoming the target for harassment and rowdyism..... This is the story of the emergence of Shiv Sena , a political party and a political ideology  scripted and nurtured by a man  called "Balasaheb Thackeray".  Gradually Bombay went on to  become Mumbai and Balasaheb Thackeray started  literally  ruling  the city. Some where in his political journey  he also went on to become an un- pro

You don't have to live long to live behind a rich & inspiring legacy. Some people short live their life , yet live behind a rich and inspiring legacy for generations ahead. You only live once but if you work it right once is enough. Steven Paul Jobs proved that to one and all. Jobs was among the first to see the commercial potential of Xerox's PARC's mouse driven graphical user interface which led to creation of Macintosh. From here unfolded the story of "APPLE" . This is the one company that stands out for forging ahead on innovation. When Apple released i pad, people lined up for hours to get their hands on the latest shiny techno-gadget stamped with Apple logo. This cult like following for "APPLE" is enough to tell us what Steve Jobs was for the ipad & i phone generation in particular and to the gadget loving world at large. Steve.... you said, " time is limited"..... You for sure did not waste it living someone else's life

I still remember climbing the tree in the little hillock adjacent to Feroz Shah Kotla ground. It was 1964 and I was something of 13. I with couple of my friends had bunked the school to watch the India-England Test match that was being played in Delhi. It was last day of the Test. I was seeing a Test match for the first time live on the field. It was also my first time watching the cricket from a tree top. I was seeing Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi with just one eye driving and pulling the ball all over the field. I still remember that magnificent drive when he was at199. It left everybody glued to their spot as the ball sped the boundary. Pataudi's score moved to 203. It was the first double century by an Indian against MCC. The excitement of that historic moment can never be written. It was simply thrilling. For a moment I did not realize that I was perched on top of a"Tree". Thank God that day I was back home with all my limbs in the right place. It was one won
