No scream for "ice cream"

This 'post' is my reaction to today's "htCity" news item.."American ice cream brand gets into "racist" trouble at the launch of their first outlet in India"...
I am sure many of us still may not have made it to the shores of America. However for most of us 'America' continues to be a 'vision' statement and a reference of 'America' invariably finds a slot both in our short and long term goals. However does all this "America" fixation make us little less Indian and little more American may always remain a debatable. However I can cross my heart as an "Aaam Aadmi" and say whatever fascination I may have for that country across the Atlantic,my mind and my soul will always remain on the shores of Ganges and in the country that I will ever remain pride to call my "India".If I am putting up with their silly antics now and then in my own country,it only proves that I am ignoring their "Envy" of our cultural heritage and our family bonding that is making them "restless".Well so let us not get worked up by "Haagen Daze's" (a America's ice cream major) latest antic at Select CitiMall. Let us remember our uproar and outburst of emotion will only give them a free publicity ride. You know something an "Aaam Aadmi" never checks the 'breed' of the 'dog' when he throws him the "crumbs".However if some "Videshi" take so pride of their "breed",let's not waste our crumbs on them....
Let's carry on with our "Desi Kulfi" and Narula's "Ice Cream"...'and carry on with our "India Gate".picnics. After all we are always "Happy singingly"....HAPPY...so "NO" screaming Ji....for Ice Cream Ji..!

In conversation with Bapu....

With 'Sare Jahan Se Achcha' and 'Abide with Me'the Soul-stirring martial tunes and solemn drum beats at the majestic Raisina Hills the "Beating the Retreat" ceremony marked the conclusion of the week long ceremonial functions of India celebrating her 62nd year of Republic. As the illumination lit up the edifices of Imperial India..my thought reached out to that day into the history of independence that finally dropped the curtain on a life called "Gandhi"...the man whose experiment with truth may not have jelled with today but his name has truly become the brand that remain most misused & manipulated both in trade & politics. As I key-in these lines I can read out the conversation that would have transpired between the "soul of Nation" (SON) and "Mahatma Gandhi"(Bapu)....Read on what I read..... SON: Bapu it's me,are you sleeping....? BAPU: How can you ask that...don't you know this day in the year 1948..I was gu...

Just about...being a "Father"

A new world greeted them with smile and happiness when they... "Just met" and soon for them the wedding bells rang... Now, they are happily lost in their own world & together are learning to set- up a 'Home’ of their own... away from what was a home for them a little earlier in the year....That's "his" daughter & "his" son in-law. ..Being very adorable, the house has become little less chirpy after her moving out….. …."He" now does feel the boredom...but will never show it off... Because "he" is the father ...and expected to put on a stern face & always remain a 'matter of fact' person..... He is all set to explore & build-up a learning curve that may see him well in life in about a couple of years from now. After his graduation he may probably start living away from home in a distant land in pursuit of excellence...That's "His" son Being the darling of the house, "he" is...

My expiriment with "TRUTH"..

It was today but the year was 1981 and the day was probably a Saturday. I was there on the ceremonial stretch of "Raj path".There were about 4 lac people like me "all excited", getting ready for the "action shot" for Richard Atendbrough's film "GANDHI". The scene was Gandhiji's "funeral procession".I was wearing white khadi "Pajama & Kurta" which I bought from Khadi gram udyog at 'Regal building the previous evening. This was the recommended "dress code" for the shoot. Probably I never thought then that I was about to be part of a "live action crowd" of this magnitude that will never again be filmed. Soon the heavy camera's parked on the cranes started rolling. I lost the count of how many times those giant like cameras zoomed in and zoomed out of me. I was simply emotionally charged walking the stretch shouting "Vande Matram","Mahatma Gandhi" "AmarRahe"...
