Women’s reservation a “no need”.?

I don’t subscribe to any school of thought that practices male chauvinism. Though I was never a student of political science, I do understand that Article 14 of our constitution guarantees equality to women and article 15 guarantees no discrimination and the article 16 talks about equal opportunity. Post 62 years these constitutional fundamentals are still not being seen whole heartedly practiced in our society. I call this a lack of "political will". Today if this is being re surfaced as “woman’s reservation bill, it is simply a political maneuvering to gain political popularity. I don’t understand how reserving “181”seats in “Lok Sabha” for woman is going to prevent the “pervert” political minds from exploiting "woman"

I can neither imagine nor believe that this “181” parliamentary quota for "woman" is going to help those millions of unfortunate "women" in this country, who in spite of all talk about "woman empowerment" are not allowed to step out of their homes. Their life still remains an agony. For them even today the world outside the confines of their family remains "stranger than fiction". However the political parties and NGO’s continue to stay away from this for "political reasons".

I don’t see how this “181” quota is going to help in bringing down the accelerating crime rate against woman in this country. Will this “181” seats in Lok Sabha ensure that no woman in this country remain teased, harassed and assaulted by their family and by the ‘society’ in which they live. Will this “181” seats in 'Lok Sabha' guarantee the safety of the ‘woman’ on our Indian roads and streets. Today we have a "woman" installed as the ‘president of India. Today we have a "woman" elected for the prestigious post of “speaker” in “Lok Sabha”. However the plight of ‘woman’ in our society remain unabated.

The “Aam Aadmi” in this country already remains harassed and tortured by so many “reservations” in education, employment and rehabilitation. Let us not add this “181” to his woes. A few more seats to 'woman' in the "parliament" are not going bring about a change in the rule of equality of genders in our society. Neither is it going to help us to change the mind set of our society which still continues to live in the belief that males are born to dominate.

The need today is to educate the people to bring about a change of mind and attitude. What we need is a “serious and dedicated drive that is both visible and effective in ensuring that “woman” in this country will always remain safe, respected and will always enjoy the same power and freedom as every body else with no discrimination.

I wish our political leaders for once come together to work seriously for preserving the dignity of "woman" in our society. Let us not kill “democracy”, through a system called "reservation". Believe me Women’s reservation is a “no need”

Today is the 8th of March and I wish all "Women" all happiness, all smiles, all good health and a wonderful life. They indeed deserve the best of the world. It is because of them that we are here "hail and hearty". HAPPY Women’s DAY

Totally agree with your comments- this reservation status for women is principally to drive a political objective rather than an actual implementation of well-being of women in India- classic case is that of Delhi wherein the crime rate against women is at it's peak with a women chief minister. Good article.

MY MODISTORY

I am one among 900  million plus    "nuts and bolts" of our  Democracy , who   become "faceless" faces in the crowd after  every 5 years.  Year 2014 election was in every sense historic It was beyond doubt a landslide victory for BJP and the beginning of  the so called "MODI" Raj  In year 2014 my reason and my josh for  casting my vote for  BJP was "Modi". His speeches were "sparkling confidence" that set ablaze the confidence of  the nation that was trying to rise up from the cesspool of corruption   Looking back now after 11 years I realise that year 2014 was also  the beginning of era called   "Political Branding" that would  covert  a "politician" into a larger than life  "Mega Leader" Perhaps that is the reason that today in politics "anti-incumbency" does not matter at all . Here are  in brief  a Common man's  bunch of thoughts on "Modi Story". These ...

DE LHI Gasping!!

Delhiites have turned   indifferent to the " Toxic Air" that they breath  They have stopped bothering about the "smoke screen " that is keeping away   "Sun light"  from giving them the ray of "HOPE"  to keep their lungs "Sun Shined" . Like "AGE"  for them now  even the  AQI (Air Quality Index) has become a sheer number .They have long since stopped reacting to the AQI  shooting up. They have lost their "JOSH"" to protest for their fundamental right to breath. Delhi is the very seat of the duly elected "POWER".  of  World's largest Democracy  The "custodian" of this Democracy reside here  at   "7 LOK KALYAN"  but remain hardly visible in and around the city This  "custodian"  continues to remain the very "Most"  'Frequent Flier' of our Democracy and  the only  'STAR '  campaigner for the political party that he comes from.    Getting re-elected...
