For the “Tiger” not in the “wood”..?
In the very recent past I had the opportunity to visit both “Ranthambore” National Park” off “Sawi Madhopur” and “Jim Corbett” off “Ranikhet”. I spent my ‘patience’ and two nights on the “Machans”, yet I could not even spot the 'pug marks' of “tiger" any where. It does send me into believing that “Tigers” have vanished from the “woods”. I remain now totally confused on the government’s arithmetic of “1411”.
Why not we seriously contemplate to target on some other ‘animal’ for our “national symbol” instead of living in vanity with “Tigers” that are there no more. Here are some options that come to my mind.
“Jungle Bees”. In case we can call this an 'animal'? They have the potential for dispersing unruly political 'rallies'. A heat on their “butt” is enough to ignite them. However I am not sure if the “Bees” have butts”? ...
“Cows”. They are found in plenty, on our streets and roads. It will also help in preventing these stray “animals” from ending up in "Abattoirs”. However I strongly feel there could be some protest. Let us therefore not play with "Secularism",since it always leads into bloody riots. Let us check my last option..
"Dogs". I feel "Dogs" can represent our national behavior very correctly. Also there is no dearth for "Dogs" in our country. Again it will help in cutting the "civic cost" in administrating the stray dogs . Incidentally the 'bark' of the "Dog" is like that of our 'politicians'. Like "Dog" bites , our 'politician's "bite" at times can also prove 'fatal' for the "Aam Aadmi". The "Dogs" 'wag' their tails, so do our "bureaucrates" & "administrators" "wag" in front of the politicians. The "Dogs" keep their tongue "hanging and watery" so do our "politicians" when it comes to "money, power and fame". "Dog" remains ‘faithful' to his ‘master’ .The “Aam Aadmi” also remains 'faithful' to their elected “politicians”. You see he keeps electing them to 'power', knowing well that they will continue to make his living ‘miserable”. By all account therefore "Dog" fits the "Bill" for “National Animal”.
Now this is for the”Tiger” ‘lovers’. “Majesty, Courage, Power and Grace”, these are the qualities of a "Tiger". Till the time our 'Leaders" are able to emulate these 'qualities' and till the time these 'qualities' remain visible and vibrant in our "Parliament" we cannot 'golf' around for the "Tiger" not in the "Wood"..!
