Budget 2010, a fueling frustration..!

Union Budget is all about economic of forecasting. John Kenneth Galbraith said about the 'economic of forecasting and I quote "The only function of economic forecasting is to make astrology look respectable." Incidentally it is the "Aam Aadmi’s" blind faith in 'astrology' that is keeping the ritual of union budget a standard of 'great expectation' for him.

The impact of year 2010 union budget will defiantly remain our media’s most discussed and widely analyzed affair in the coming days. However it will be the "Aam Aadmi" who will be bearing the brunt of this budget. You will see how the tiny hike in the cost of petrol and diesel will add fuel to the already speeding prices of "kitchen essentials". It will be any economist’s delight watching the "Aam Aadmi" coping with life, as prices will start shooting to new heights "break less" and "unabated". Again an "Aam Aadmi" would have preferred a rise in the minimum taxable limit instead of a stretch on the taxing slabs.

Being the first budget of this decade I wish that the Finance Minister's outlay of 46 percent to "infrastructure" yield some positive results. Let us assume for now that we can very soon hope to see our streets 'well lighted', 'manholes' well covered and our "NANO" "rides" on the Indian roads remain a well deserving driver's delight.

By the way it will be ridiculous of us to see the 'opposition party's walk out today as their gesture of sympathy to the "Aam Aadmi" Let us grow up and understand that all the politicians at the end of the day remain a "fine tuned" scoundrels.

I wish and hope that the days ahead does not prove "budget 2010,a fueling frustration..!

In conversation with Bapu....

With 'Sare Jahan Se Achcha' and 'Abide with Me'the Soul-stirring martial tunes and solemn drum beats at the majestic Raisina Hills the "Beating the Retreat" ceremony marked the conclusion of the week long ceremonial functions of India celebrating her 62nd year of Republic. As the illumination lit up the edifices of Imperial India..my thought reached out to that day into the history of independence that finally dropped the curtain on a life called "Gandhi"...the man whose experiment with truth may not have jelled with today but his name has truly become the brand that remain most misused & manipulated both in trade & politics. As I key-in these lines I can read out the conversation that would have transpired between the "soul of Nation" (SON) and "Mahatma Gandhi"(Bapu)....Read on what I read..... SON: Bapu it's me,are you sleeping....? BAPU: How can you ask that...don't you know this day in the year 1948..I was gu...

But 'PAPU' Can "Vote"...'Sala'..!

"Sala".. is a generally accepted slang for both 'hum' the "Hindustani" and 'tum' the "Indian". Together this "HUM TUM" make the "Aam Admi"of the world's largest 'democracy'. This is our "INDIA".I agree with the TV ad that almost says "My India Strongest" in spite of the "Everest" of issues that surround her. Normally in this country the fate of the 'ordinary' people ie 'Aam Admi' always remain woefully harassed, pushed and frustrated through the year. However at the close every 5 years this 'Aam Admi' suddenly become extraordinarily powerful and remain wooed by all 'big, small and sundry' political parties of the country. Yes it is time for General Election. In the coming months for the 15th Lok Sabha, 714 million eligible voters would be 'bee lining' to the ballot boxes across 29 states,6 union territories to elect 543 members . 'Jaago-...

My expiriment with "TRUTH"..

It was today but the year was 1981 and the day was probably a Saturday. I was there on the ceremonial stretch of "Raj path".There were about 4 lac people like me "all excited", getting ready for the "action shot" for Richard Atendbrough's film "GANDHI". The scene was Gandhiji's "funeral procession".I was wearing white khadi "Pajama & Kurta" which I bought from Khadi gram udyog at 'Regal building the previous evening. This was the recommended "dress code" for the shoot. Probably I never thought then that I was about to be part of a "live action crowd" of this magnitude that will never again be filmed. Soon the heavy camera's parked on the cranes started rolling. I lost the count of how many times those giant like cameras zoomed in and zoomed out of me. I was simply emotionally charged walking the stretch shouting "Vande Matram","Mahatma Gandhi" "AmarRahe"...
