Is our RTI ..becoming our pipe Dreams.....

Right to Information Act 2005,mandates timely response to the citizens for government information. The credit of making the government implement the act goes to Aruna Roy, a social activist known for her efforts to fight corruption and promote government transparency Today much more  than over 100 countries around the world have for their citizens the Freedom for information in some form or other

Since  2005 over  1.50 crores of Indian citizens have filed application under RTI. Over the time RTI in our country has become very popular.  Some years  back it was so much like  our faith in our independent judiciary. Times have changed now. Much over 100 citizens stands martyred under RTI and over lac  remain harassed and intimidated for questioning the governance. A whistle Blowers Protection Act was enacted in year 2011 to safe guard the lives of a citizen asking for information under RTI However for reasons not known this  Act does not stand implemented  till today'

Did you know first Indian film on RTI "Ek cup Chaya" was screened at the 40th international festival of Indian films. It is a tribute to all those who decided not to offer a cup of tea to any one and chose to fight their battle against corruption silently In spite of all this to make RTI an accountable tool for the her citizens the state of  Maharashtra and Gujarat today  stand top on the killing of RTI activists. Political goons are thriving all over the county.

Indeed political muscle power is gradually dissuading the citizens from  questioning the governance  Our right to freedom as enshrined under  the  constitution and our Right to education has not made the majority of us to fight the political muscles that is slowly and steadily diluting the RTI.  Our democracy will always remain  "off" the people and to to say things are changing is as good as saying ache dins are here. However that doesn't stop people from  dreaming because somebody has said Dreams come true!

MY MODISTORY

I am one among 900  million plus    "nuts and bolts" of our  Democracy , who   become "faceless" faces in the crowd after  every 5 years.  Year 2014 election was in every sense historic It was beyond doubt a landslide victory for BJP and the beginning of  the so called "MODI" Raj  In year 2014 my reason and my josh for  casting my vote for  BJP was "Modi". His speeches were "sparkling confidence" that set ablaze the confidence of  the nation that was trying to rise up from the cesspool of corruption   Looking back now after 11 years I realise that year 2014 was also  the beginning of era called   "Political Branding" that would  covert  a "politician" into a larger than life  "Mega Leader" Perhaps that is the reason that today in politics "anti-incumbency" does not matter at all . Here are  in brief  a Common man's  bunch of thoughts on "Modi Story". These ...

CLARITY IN CHAOS

The Bhagavad Gita is a living scripture  universally relevant  today as it was 5000 years ago in the battlefield of Kurukshetra. It is a divine conversation that took place in the battlefield of Kurukshetra  between two best  friends, Lord Krishna the Charioteer and Arjuna the warrior.  'Bhagavad Gita' is an integral part of of Indian mythology  I have always believed mythology is not for everyone including me.  So when my friend, the author of the book  "Understanding Bhagavad Gita", gave me a  copy to review , I was not very comfortable.  I like  'Arjuna'  started looking for excuses . However one day not very soon , "The Recipe For A Better Life " the part of the title  hooked me into reading it The author has covered the essence of 'Gita' inside the  160 pages, through   eighteen Chapters.  Every chapter has an "Introduction", a "Summary" and a "Reflection" The simplicity of his writing gives...
