Battle for South Asia......

South Asia cannot anymore remain simply a point of discussion for the West. It is time the world around wakes up to the importance of South Asia for international peace and security. Today the menace presence of insurgency in India and Pakistan  has consolidated enough to tilt the very fundamentals of democracy and tell the world that  Democracy do can fight Democracy and not the other way round...

Sami Ahmad Khan's  "Red Jihad" is a powerful novel and  remains a thriller right through  its 263 pages. Sami is a young Indian author and a Fulbright scholar This is Sami's debut novel and carries everything that makes a Bestseller.

Guns, guts and intriguing politics  wrapped around a time frame of 2014 makes Red Jihad truly engrossing. The plot is built around India and Pakistan with their insurgency factors taking the lead role. The book reveals and unfolds how wrath of insurgency can create havoc that can almost bring the superpower to their knees . The book clarifies and conveys...that in coming years it will be the the internal threats that will remain more explosive than the external threats. The politics of Democracy has worked enough both in India and Pakistan to make   their  extremists forces turn into 'Frankensteins'.

If the non-state players of both the countries handshake, what will follow is something that makes the book "Red Jihad" an unstoppable reading.. Every page of the book with their chronological sequence almost makes "Red Jihad" little away from being called fiction. There are so many lines that makes you wishing them turn real...for instance page  '83'...where the Indian Army Chief shouts back at the Prime Minister..." Do not teach me what my job is, I cannot risk the lives of my men for a mere speech at the UN".....

Sami  Ahmad Khan's "Red Jihad..Battle for South Asia'' is a paperback published by Rupa Publications. Take it from me it is one book you cannot afford to miss...a great reading!

CLARITY IN CHAOS

The Bhagavad Gita is a living scripture  universally relevant  today as it was 5000 years ago in the battlefield of Kurukshetra. It is a divine conversation that took place in the battlefield of Kurukshetra  between two best  friends, Lord Krishna the Charioteer and Arjuna the warrior.  'Bhagavad Gita' is an integral part of of Indian mythology  I have always believed mythology is not for everyone including me.  So when my friend, the author of the book  "Understanding Bhagavad Gita", gave me a  copy to review , I was not very comfortable.  I like  'Arjuna'  started looking for excuses . However one day not very soon , "The Recipe For A Better Life " the part of the title  hooked me into reading it The author has covered the essence of 'Gita' inside the  160 pages, through   eighteen Chapters.  Every chapter has an "Introduction", a "Summary" and a "Reflection" The simplicity of his writing gives...

In conversation with Bapu....

With 'Sare Jahan Se Achcha' and 'Abide with Me'the Soul-stirring martial tunes and solemn drum beats at the majestic Raisina Hills the "Beating the Retreat" ceremony marked the conclusion of the week long ceremonial functions of India celebrating her 62nd year of Republic. As the illumination lit up the edifices of Imperial India..my thought reached out to that day into the history of independence that finally dropped the curtain on a life called "Gandhi"...the man whose experiment with truth may not have jelled with today but his name has truly become the brand that remain most misused & manipulated both in trade & politics. As I key-in these lines I can read out the conversation that would have transpired between the "soul of Nation" (SON) and "Mahatma Gandhi"(Bapu)....Read on what I read..... SON: Bapu it's me,are you sleeping....? BAPU: How can you ask that...don't you know this day in the year 1948..I was gu...
