politically stupid "people"

When India won her freedom from the British, there was overwhelming emotional excitement among the people. Every Indian in the nook& corner of free India was full of dreams for this brand new India. Every Indian was optimist of seeing Tagore's" "Geetaanjli" (written in 1912) shaping up under the fire brand leadership of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.

Such optimism drained out very soon. The head beneath the Gandhi caps of our politicians in republic India now remained more occupied scheming moves and movements that could help them exhibiting , power & wealth and allow them to use their newly acquired political acumen for furthering a rule of dynasty to keep exploiting the credibility of the people...

For these political leaders, people and the country took the back seat in their scheme of things for the progress & development of free Independent India. Every politician independently & collectively started splurging wealth power and arrogance. The people euphoria of having won the freedom eventually died an early death. The Parliament became a house for the politicians to protect their interest & stall country's progress. This process gave enough of both protein & calcium to allow Corruption to walk tall & mighty on her own legs.

Now our politicians do claim that 62 years are too short a span of time to eradicate poverty and bring in 100% literacy into the country. However they cannot deny the fact that this 62 years for them became ample time to ensure seeing corruption taking strong roots into India's political system. Today the growing speed of corruption has hit more than the Himalayan heights...This has defiantly angered the people so much so that when one person called "Anna Hazare" steps out to fight "war against corruption"....the entire nation joins him in spontaneity. Thanks to Anna Hazare the Lok pal Bill has today reached the drafting stage.

However with every day as it progress, I am turning more and more pessimist about seeing the draft culminating into law carrying the same draculian provisions against corruptions as was envisaged at the Jantar Mantar.

The cause my pessimism is the simple statement given by Anna Hazare which said and I quote " I will accept parliament's decision even if it rejects the Lok Pal Bill. Incidentally we all know that our Parliament today houses more political scoundrels than true political leaders. This I am sure will ensure that ' corruption' remains unbridled and thus keep the demons in our peoples democracy hail& hearty & thriving. ..

Now what about WE the people... Well don't worry very soon we will find ourselves unwinding to Jagjit Singh's gazal............."Hazaron Kkhwaishe aisi ki her khawish pe dam nikle"...

Arre baba why don't WE understand that we are politically stupid "people" !

In conversation with Bapu....

With 'Sare Jahan Se Achcha' and 'Abide with Me'the Soul-stirring martial tunes and solemn drum beats at the majestic Raisina Hills the "Beating the Retreat" ceremony marked the conclusion of the week long ceremonial functions of India celebrating her 62nd year of Republic. As the illumination lit up the edifices of Imperial India..my thought reached out to that day into the history of independence that finally dropped the curtain on a life called "Gandhi"...the man whose experiment with truth may not have jelled with today but his name has truly become the brand that remain most misused & manipulated both in trade & politics. As I key-in these lines I can read out the conversation that would have transpired between the "soul of Nation" (SON) and "Mahatma Gandhi"(Bapu)....Read on what I read..... SON: Bapu it's me,are you sleeping....? BAPU: How can you ask that...don't you know this day in the year 1948..I was gu...

Just about...being a "Father"

A new world greeted them with smile and happiness when they... "Just met" and soon for them the wedding bells rang... Now, they are happily lost in their own world & together are learning to set- up a 'Home’ of their own... away from what was a home for them a little earlier in the year....That's "his" daughter & "his" son in-law. ..Being very adorable, the house has become little less chirpy after her moving out….. …."He" now does feel the boredom...but will never show it off... Because "he" is the father ...and expected to put on a stern face & always remain a 'matter of fact' person..... He is all set to explore & build-up a learning curve that may see him well in life in about a couple of years from now. After his graduation he may probably start living away from home in a distant land in pursuit of excellence...That's "His" son Being the darling of the house, "he" is...

But 'PAPU' Can "Vote"...'Sala'..!

"Sala".. is a generally accepted slang for both 'hum' the "Hindustani" and 'tum' the "Indian". Together this "HUM TUM" make the "Aam Admi"of the world's largest 'democracy'. This is our "INDIA".I agree with the TV ad that almost says "My India Strongest" in spite of the "Everest" of issues that surround her. Normally in this country the fate of the 'ordinary' people ie 'Aam Admi' always remain woefully harassed, pushed and frustrated through the year. However at the close every 5 years this 'Aam Admi' suddenly become extraordinarily powerful and remain wooed by all 'big, small and sundry' political parties of the country. Yes it is time for General Election. In the coming months for the 15th Lok Sabha, 714 million eligible voters would be 'bee lining' to the ballot boxes across 29 states,6 union territories to elect 543 members . 'Jaago-...
