Crimes and Rapes, Corruptions and  Scams, Female feticide & Bride burning  along with Road rage and Rowdyism continues to remain a runaway success in spite of  all those awareness creating 'Jago re Jago' TV   episodes and serials. The puppetry of politics are paving way for social activists and self propelled God heads to play dirty and make business of derailing political climate in the country.  The woe list of people continue to  grow tall with prices and patience hitting a ceiling  beyond the cloud and the sky . Yet we still  hold the  audacity to  Hope for a better and not a battered tomorrow.   Our  king size plights and prejudice  does not lessen our courage to push on and pull on with life and destiny. We remain ambitious, yet are not made of sterner stuff as Shakespeare would put it.It is truly  sad therefore  to find  some among us cutting away their lives on the 'metro track' without giving life a chance to come  unruffled through the pits and

Long back in time, when I was a boy scout, I hated to drink plain milk, so my mother used to add a heap spoon full of "Bournvita" to make it utterly buttery delicious and I truly loved it. As a boy I was very naughty but never became the Dennis the Menace, that's why I love this tag line a lot  ..."Brought up right,Bournvita Bright" Today when I am in my sixty,I still hate plain drink,I  always feel utterly bitterly delighted to have my 'old monk' with soda.I feel it makes me nutricious enough to walk straight and  keep  grounded to the reality bites.. Now if that makes me say 'drinking is nutricious"....I am sure it is not going to send all the  liver loving people hitting the Bars.  However  Brand "Amul" does not think that way...that's why it is getting  'Kolaveri-ed' over Cadbury' saying 'milk alone is not nutricious'.. In India today you can never remain frustrated with democracy as long as yo

Across the Globe Democracy remains  the most preferred form of governance.  It's philosophy "For the people, By the people and Of the people" continues to hit the right chord with the people across the Globe. The year 2010 saw almost an universal upsurge for Democracy. The people in Bolivia, Tunisia, Egypt, Libya,Lebanon, Ivory Cost and Iran demonstrated the audacity to come on the streets to demolish authoritarianism  and fundamentalism to bring in Democracy.. India remains world's largest if not the oldest surviving democracy. We have our share of political upheavals and  communal turmoils, yet we know we will continue to remain not  influenced by Military Coups and Dictatorship that keep rattling our neighborhoods. Our Generals and Solders will always  remain ferocious and dare devils on the battlefields. Our Armed forces have time and again proved that when it comes to deeds of valor and chivalry they are never a second to none. However on the home turf our

Sitting on my sixty and some, I trail the tracks that I left behind.I realize that I was never a trailblazing person. Be it academics,be it sports, be it my career, I always remained an "also ran" entity. I am sure this has nothing to do with my love for horses, polo and the army. I was never a man of sterner stuff  therefore I knew I would have never made it to the NDA and obviously therefore never have become the part of the  list of the Generals who contributed heart & soul and proved time and again to the world at large that Indian Army is one among the finest in the world. Our Army has always rose up to the challenges of external aggression & internal disturbances simply because of its belief that honour and welfare of the country comes first always and every time. General V K Singh, no doubt is a highly decorated Army officer. He also happens to be the very first Indian armed forces officer to be inducted into the prestigious United States Army War Colleg

Why don't our optimism fail..?

As usual this year  again the  26th January Ceremonial Parade at Rajpat  kept  my  spirit, pride and confidence on the top gear.Today again for me the "Drumers Call' and Abide with Me" remained  the most vibrating military music.at the "Beating the Retreat"  ceremony on  the historic Vijay Chowk. My optimism peaked up when I heard the enchanting 'jugalbandi' of Tabla and Shenai  resounding the Raisana Hills for the first time. With  the splendor of lighting the Majestic Raisana Hills, yet  another Republic Day Celebrations came to a close Military cermonials surely let's us forget the dismal background of our Republic.Such ceremonial parades indeed re-enforces our faith on the Might of our Military forces. The political buffoonery is becoming viral. At times it does make us feel that we are simply moments away from becoming another Banana republic. The politics of Secularism in this country is  helping in programming a select religion into b

Tolerating the intolerance of few...

If we were not scared of secularism, perhaps we would be talking our mind out about faith, religion and rituals. In spite of being labeled a secular nation we continue to crush our freedom when expressing our views about a religion or a faith. If democracy is all about people's right and liberty, then why some religions stifle the masses and practice fanaticism with obsessive enthusiasm. I am not at anytime for or against any religion. I respect  religious sentiments. If I have the right to take pride of my religion , so has everybody. But that however will never mean that we should   practice intolerance towards  people or sect who dare to put their point of view on the subject. I may have reasons  to love to hate people who may express views about my religion and my faith  that  may remain at tangent to my belief and my faith. However that doesn't give me the right to be devilish in pinning for their blood. Salman Rushdie is a British Indian novelist. If his second no

Stirring the Political Frying Pans..

With 7 states going to the polls, the political parties are sure to remain in shiver & sweat. The nation will witness plenty of mudslinging in the mainstream politics. The year has everything set to shoot up the level of our political frustrations. Let us try to stir the political Frying Pans in the kitchens of major political parties and find what their MasterChefs are frying & prying. This may not get us anywhere but at least help us to smell the aroma of what is cooking for the unwary voters out there. Let us take a peek... UPA : Looking visibly quizzed in managing the tantrums of their Nano Didi who is bent on fielding her own handpicked candidates in Goa & Manipur in the forthcoming assembly polls. We hold no rights to doubt her height to leap into a territory that is beyond the Hooghly banks. On the other hand their Prince Charming Rahul Gandhi may be walking around his confidence to redeem his padyatra miles and Dalit dinners. But will he be able to take the char
