The Race where competitors matter...

On the tracks after that very quick & cracking Happy Diwali break. We have just arrived to the beginning of a very exciting and a gonna be a memorable week-end. That's how I see the Friday for all us F-1 enthusiasts... The 17th race of 2011 Grand Prix flags off at Buddh International circuit at greater Noida (India)

These big names of F-1 team RBR Renault,McLaren-Mercedes, Red Bull and Ferrari will be pitting each other so also India's Force ONE. The great F-1 drivers that we will be seeing in action will include Michael Shcumacher, Lewis Hamilton, Seabastian Vettel and Jonson Button.

The competitor's cars are so well matched that individual vehicle performance can differ by only tenth of a second per lap. Therefore a straightaway overtaking of car is just not possible. The most common means of overtaking will be out-breaking the other at the bends. It's a tricky maneuver. If the passing car is not careful it could overshoot the turn and lose time or spin out of the race..Lets see after the warm ups what the destiny has for the racers on this Sunday...

Sunday winning will not be entirely a matter of destiny...the winners good fortune or bad luck will continue to rest on the competitors ,what competitor does or what he fails to do. The Formula ONE GRAND PRIX is a race where competitors matter...

In conversation with Bapu....

With 'Sare Jahan Se Achcha' and 'Abide with Me'the Soul-stirring martial tunes and solemn drum beats at the majestic Raisina Hills the "Beating the Retreat" ceremony marked the conclusion of the week long ceremonial functions of India celebrating her 62nd year of Republic. As the illumination lit up the edifices of Imperial India..my thought reached out to that day into the history of independence that finally dropped the curtain on a life called "Gandhi"...the man whose experiment with truth may not have jelled with today but his name has truly become the brand that remain most misused & manipulated both in trade & politics. As I key-in these lines I can read out the conversation that would have transpired between the "soul of Nation" (SON) and "Mahatma Gandhi"(Bapu)....Read on what I read..... SON: Bapu it's me,are you sleeping....? BAPU: How can you ask that...don't you know this day in the year 1948..I was gu...

But 'PAPU' Can "Vote"...'Sala'..!

"Sala".. is a generally accepted slang for both 'hum' the "Hindustani" and 'tum' the "Indian". Together this "HUM TUM" make the "Aam Admi"of the world's largest 'democracy'. This is our "INDIA".I agree with the TV ad that almost says "My India Strongest" in spite of the "Everest" of issues that surround her. Normally in this country the fate of the 'ordinary' people ie 'Aam Admi' always remain woefully harassed, pushed and frustrated through the year. However at the close every 5 years this 'Aam Admi' suddenly become extraordinarily powerful and remain wooed by all 'big, small and sundry' political parties of the country. Yes it is time for General Election. In the coming months for the 15th Lok Sabha, 714 million eligible voters would be 'bee lining' to the ballot boxes across 29 states,6 union territories to elect 543 members . 'Jaago-...

My expiriment with "TRUTH"..

It was today but the year was 1981 and the day was probably a Saturday. I was there on the ceremonial stretch of "Raj path".There were about 4 lac people like me "all excited", getting ready for the "action shot" for Richard Atendbrough's film "GANDHI". The scene was Gandhiji's "funeral procession".I was wearing white khadi "Pajama & Kurta" which I bought from Khadi gram udyog at 'Regal building the previous evening. This was the recommended "dress code" for the shoot. Probably I never thought then that I was about to be part of a "live action crowd" of this magnitude that will never again be filmed. Soon the heavy camera's parked on the cranes started rolling. I lost the count of how many times those giant like cameras zoomed in and zoomed out of me. I was simply emotionally charged walking the stretch shouting "Vande Matram","Mahatma Gandhi" "AmarRahe"...
