You can’t live your life with ‘philosophy’ and ‘spirituality’. To remain “spirited” in life you need to ‘sail along’ with the ‘cultural norms’ that surround you. One of the ‘cultural norm’ that remains every day, every where vibrant, visible and victorious is something that we all understand but don’t speak of till some 'lid blows' somewhere, making all the media go frenzy. Yes I am referring to “corruption”. I don’t understand why we always pretend to hate “corruption”. It is an accepted common sense that “Corruption” remains prevalent as well thriving across the length and breadth of this country. “Corruption” in fact has become today for us a “GOD” of All things”. Our faith in it becomes sometimes a greater ‘force’ than our faith in our “Gods and Goddess”.” Like our “GOD and GODDESS” “corruption” also goes by different “names”. We know very well most of the things in this country hardly move without “greasing” a ‘palm’ or few. It is called “donation” when you pay it to get your child admitted to nursery & KG. It is called “chai pani ka kharacha” when you pay it to the person who comes to your house for your; “passport verification”. It is called simply “Baksheesh” when you pay it to some ‘peon’ in the government department to ensure that your file reach the right ‘desk’. It is called “fees” when you pay it to the “custom officials ” to get your 'legitimate cargo' released. It is called “Consulting charges” when you pay it to the ‘Income Tax’ officer to get your "tax refund". It is called “time saver” when you pay it to the ‘traffic constable’ to avoid getting the “challan” for jumping the ‘red light’. In the "corporate" parlance it is simply called “kick backs” and in political circle it is called “party funding” that ensures positive “government co-operation” for clearing “Mega deals”. Incidentally in case of “corruption” in ‘high places’, if one or two odd links feel omitted, or “under attended”, they turn “whistle blowers” and a “scam” is born which then becomes a “breaking news” for all the “national channels”. "Eradicating corruption" at "root level" is as “non achievable” a 'task' as “eradicating poverty”. However for removing “corruption” at "high places” we need a strong “Political will” which unfortunately remains “non existent” in our “Democracy”. Let us therefore understand that “corruption” is today our “God of All things”. Also let us be clear that “scams” like “Bofors”, "Fodders", “Satyams” and “IPLs” only momentarily force us to “pause” but we know they will never ever allow us to lose our "faith" in the “God of all things”..!
