India turns"60"

We are proud to bestow you with the honour of "senior citizenship". Believe me this is no "life time achievement award" because we know we need you till the world lasts. This is simply a token of our humble appreciation and expression of our deep sentiments to say that we "Love You" for your courage, determination and fighting spirit that has led us to become a true "indispensable" India in the "World Today"

We know we have still a long way to go to keep and sustain "spirit of unity in diversity". We know it will take us some more "light years" to realise that any kind of discrimination of human life will always remain our stumbling block in creating and retaining a true civilized society. We understand that we cannot afford to individually remain selfish in creating wealth for ourselves. We know if we continue this way, we will never be able to stop the 'invaders' from plundering the "wealth of our nation". We know you will never like us to "THANK YOU" to express our gratitude, for the pains, sufferings and turmoils that you endured in bringing us up.
We know as a "Mother" all that you will look forward from us is that "we continue to give our best to the society and always remain healthy & spirited to do more and achieve more, so that as a nation we are able to remain "ONE GREAT INDIA".

Trust me for all the citizens of this country,"INDIA" is not simply a peninsula stretching from "Kanyakumari" in SOUTH to "Kashmir" in NORTH & from "Rajasthan" in WEST to "West Bengal" in EAST. She is our "MOTHER" who keeps ever fighting the odds so that we are not only able to sustain our "humane" qualities but also remain a true "human being".

Incidentally many may be living today past their '60'. I wish they don't call it a day as long as they are able to "value add" to the society, so that the generation "NOW &NEXT" remains 'fine tuned' to meet the challenges of years ahead "Head-On". Growing up and graying is simply a life's journey that some are fortunate to continue without "abrupt breaks". All that matters in life is the "belief" that so long you are able to create a fine blend of "strength, confidence, ability, experience and wisdom" you are "worth" to remain "Heady" about "life and living".

By the way what a "perfect coincidence"! "no generation gap" when I turn 60, India
turns "60" too..!

In conversation with Bapu....

With 'Sare Jahan Se Achcha' and 'Abide with Me'the Soul-stirring martial tunes and solemn drum beats at the majestic Raisina Hills the "Beating the Retreat" ceremony marked the conclusion of the week long ceremonial functions of India celebrating her 62nd year of Republic. As the illumination lit up the edifices of Imperial India..my thought reached out to that day into the history of independence that finally dropped the curtain on a life called "Gandhi"...the man whose experiment with truth may not have jelled with today but his name has truly become the brand that remain most misused & manipulated both in trade & politics. As I key-in these lines I can read out the conversation that would have transpired between the "soul of Nation" (SON) and "Mahatma Gandhi"(Bapu)....Read on what I read..... SON: Bapu it's me,are you sleeping....? BAPU: How can you ask that...don't you know this day in the year 1948..I was gu...

But 'PAPU' Can "Vote"...'Sala'..!

"Sala".. is a generally accepted slang for both 'hum' the "Hindustani" and 'tum' the "Indian". Together this "HUM TUM" make the "Aam Admi"of the world's largest 'democracy'. This is our "INDIA".I agree with the TV ad that almost says "My India Strongest" in spite of the "Everest" of issues that surround her. Normally in this country the fate of the 'ordinary' people ie 'Aam Admi' always remain woefully harassed, pushed and frustrated through the year. However at the close every 5 years this 'Aam Admi' suddenly become extraordinarily powerful and remain wooed by all 'big, small and sundry' political parties of the country. Yes it is time for General Election. In the coming months for the 15th Lok Sabha, 714 million eligible voters would be 'bee lining' to the ballot boxes across 29 states,6 union territories to elect 543 members . 'Jaago-...

My expiriment with "TRUTH"..

It was today but the year was 1981 and the day was probably a Saturday. I was there on the ceremonial stretch of "Raj path".There were about 4 lac people like me "all excited", getting ready for the "action shot" for Richard Atendbrough's film "GANDHI". The scene was Gandhiji's "funeral procession".I was wearing white khadi "Pajama & Kurta" which I bought from Khadi gram udyog at 'Regal building the previous evening. This was the recommended "dress code" for the shoot. Probably I never thought then that I was about to be part of a "live action crowd" of this magnitude that will never again be filmed. Soon the heavy camera's parked on the cranes started rolling. I lost the count of how many times those giant like cameras zoomed in and zoomed out of me. I was simply emotionally charged walking the stretch shouting "Vande Matram","Mahatma Gandhi" "AmarRahe"...
