God's hand on the Goal post...

My knowledge of football is as limited as my knowledge of cricketing. However watching FIFA world cup has always given me the kicks & excitement which has ever remained a missing factor while watching the IPL series .It is sad that even in spite of Lalit Modi & his team's work out to spread the outfield with semi covered cheerleaders, the cricketing pitch has not been able to produce any knockout games, they merely remained a series of glam & glamour. Well it is not right to go foot loose kicking cricket every time & every where. After all it is the one game in our country that scripts overnight rags to riches stories outside of the silver screens.

Football & the world cup has always been for long a part of my day dreams. One of my life time goal is to see myself cheering my "INDIA" at the FIFA GOLD CUP. Since it may take a few more of decades to see that coming true I do wish I am able to survive that many decades and also remain hail hearty and as excited as I am today about Football and the world cup.

Now for this FIFA 2010 “Argentina” remains my all time favorites and it has nothing to do about my love for Bacardi…a drink I will love to raise a toast with for the good health of my all time favorite “Diego Maradona. I look forward to watch Mascherano (Captain) and his team-mates setting fire on the pitch, when they play Germany for the quarter finals today& hope the team gets the honour of lifting the Trophy on July 11…till then it is "God's hand on the Goal post"…

In conversation with Bapu....

With 'Sare Jahan Se Achcha' and 'Abide with Me'the Soul-stirring martial tunes and solemn drum beats at the majestic Raisina Hills the "Beating the Retreat" ceremony marked the conclusion of the week long ceremonial functions of India celebrating her 62nd year of Republic. As the illumination lit up the edifices of Imperial India..my thought reached out to that day into the history of independence that finally dropped the curtain on a life called "Gandhi"...the man whose experiment with truth may not have jelled with today but his name has truly become the brand that remain most misused & manipulated both in trade & politics. As I key-in these lines I can read out the conversation that would have transpired between the "soul of Nation" (SON) and "Mahatma Gandhi"(Bapu)....Read on what I read..... SON: Bapu it's me,are you sleeping....? BAPU: How can you ask that...don't you know this day in the year 1948..I was gu...

But 'PAPU' Can "Vote"...'Sala'..!

"Sala".. is a generally accepted slang for both 'hum' the "Hindustani" and 'tum' the "Indian". Together this "HUM TUM" make the "Aam Admi"of the world's largest 'democracy'. This is our "INDIA".I agree with the TV ad that almost says "My India Strongest" in spite of the "Everest" of issues that surround her. Normally in this country the fate of the 'ordinary' people ie 'Aam Admi' always remain woefully harassed, pushed and frustrated through the year. However at the close every 5 years this 'Aam Admi' suddenly become extraordinarily powerful and remain wooed by all 'big, small and sundry' political parties of the country. Yes it is time for General Election. In the coming months for the 15th Lok Sabha, 714 million eligible voters would be 'bee lining' to the ballot boxes across 29 states,6 union territories to elect 543 members . 'Jaago-...

My expiriment with "TRUTH"..

It was today but the year was 1981 and the day was probably a Saturday. I was there on the ceremonial stretch of "Raj path".There were about 4 lac people like me "all excited", getting ready for the "action shot" for Richard Atendbrough's film "GANDHI". The scene was Gandhiji's "funeral procession".I was wearing white khadi "Pajama & Kurta" which I bought from Khadi gram udyog at 'Regal building the previous evening. This was the recommended "dress code" for the shoot. Probably I never thought then that I was about to be part of a "live action crowd" of this magnitude that will never again be filmed. Soon the heavy camera's parked on the cranes started rolling. I lost the count of how many times those giant like cameras zoomed in and zoomed out of me. I was simply emotionally charged walking the stretch shouting "Vande Matram","Mahatma Gandhi" "AmarRahe"...
