Start believing in political fairy tales..

I know I will not be at my honesty best if I say our Prime Minister is an honest person. I will also be grossly committing a judgmental error if I say that in politics honesty is the best policy. Well does this make our current Prime Minister the right man for the job..? The answer is no. I don't think we should feel guilty about it since we never elected him in the first place. Now here are some basic expectations that the country and her people expects the Prime Minister to deliver. For instance :

a)The Prime Minister is not expected to keep blinking when confronting national issues instead he should be able to demonstrate his ability to take independent decisions when needed.

b)If the Prime Minister has magnanimity in accepting the responsibility for the misdeeds of his cabinet members, he should also have the manliness to reprimand and take them to task.

c)The Prime Minister is expected to lead and engage the nation for enhancing productivity and economic growth and not colliding with his team for promoting scams and protecting scam-esters

d)The Prime Minister is expected to ensure that country remains free from terror attacks and not make the country an insurance for the terrorist to succeed.

e)Lastly a Prime Minister is expected to be a Prime Minister and not a "Minister in Waiting " for "Party President".

We are a nation of 1.21 billion people and also remain the largest democracy in the world. However sadly we don't have even a single national political leadership available in the stock of politicians that we maintain, feed and send to Parliament at a cost that leaves us with just Rs.32/-per day to keep our malnutritioned body in constant labour.

If we believe by 2014 we can salvage a semblance of political leadership from this inventory of politicians, we can as well start believing in political fairy tales..

In conversation with Bapu....

With 'Sare Jahan Se Achcha' and 'Abide with Me'the Soul-stirring martial tunes and solemn drum beats at the majestic Raisina Hills the "Beating the Retreat" ceremony marked the conclusion of the week long ceremonial functions of India celebrating her 62nd year of Republic. As the illumination lit up the edifices of Imperial India..my thought reached out to that day into the history of independence that finally dropped the curtain on a life called "Gandhi"...the man whose experiment with truth may not have jelled with today but his name has truly become the brand that remain most misused & manipulated both in trade & politics. As I key-in these lines I can read out the conversation that would have transpired between the "soul of Nation" (SON) and "Mahatma Gandhi"(Bapu)....Read on what I read..... SON: Bapu it's me,are you sleeping....? BAPU: How can you ask that...don't you know this day in the year 1948..I was gu...

But 'PAPU' Can "Vote"...'Sala'..!

"Sala".. is a generally accepted slang for both 'hum' the "Hindustani" and 'tum' the "Indian". Together this "HUM TUM" make the "Aam Admi"of the world's largest 'democracy'. This is our "INDIA".I agree with the TV ad that almost says "My India Strongest" in spite of the "Everest" of issues that surround her. Normally in this country the fate of the 'ordinary' people ie 'Aam Admi' always remain woefully harassed, pushed and frustrated through the year. However at the close every 5 years this 'Aam Admi' suddenly become extraordinarily powerful and remain wooed by all 'big, small and sundry' political parties of the country. Yes it is time for General Election. In the coming months for the 15th Lok Sabha, 714 million eligible voters would be 'bee lining' to the ballot boxes across 29 states,6 union territories to elect 543 members . 'Jaago-...

My expiriment with "TRUTH"..

It was today but the year was 1981 and the day was probably a Saturday. I was there on the ceremonial stretch of "Raj path".There were about 4 lac people like me "all excited", getting ready for the "action shot" for Richard Atendbrough's film "GANDHI". The scene was Gandhiji's "funeral procession".I was wearing white khadi "Pajama & Kurta" which I bought from Khadi gram udyog at 'Regal building the previous evening. This was the recommended "dress code" for the shoot. Probably I never thought then that I was about to be part of a "live action crowd" of this magnitude that will never again be filmed. Soon the heavy camera's parked on the cranes started rolling. I lost the count of how many times those giant like cameras zoomed in and zoomed out of me. I was simply emotionally charged walking the stretch shouting "Vande Matram","Mahatma Gandhi" "AmarRahe"...
