A protest to "PROTECT"

I do find myself every now and then being someone who believes in a cause be it be a "Justice for All" or be it "Being Humane".However I have found that organizations that  solely remain dedicated for a cause generally end up being a political opportunist and become too very selective while working for the cause they subscribe for . PETA in my view is one of them.

I am always very much behind anti animal cruelty and I do find despicable the way we humans treat or mistreat animals. Be it horses,be it goats be it elephants or be it dogs & cats. Some animal protection objectives we do find in our Constitution but they are selective and does not therefore talk of "justice for All". Life is as precious for a Horse and a Goat as it is for a Bull. So why there is no Animal welfare society for protecting the interest  of a Goat or a Horse and why creating  a ruckus on a  sport that revolves round Bull but remain neither cruel to the bull and never ever even remotely comparable to the gruesome Spanish Bull fights. Jallikattu is celebrated all over Tamil Nadu on their New Year Day  PONGAL

Jallikattu is an ancient sport. The seals of Indus Valley civilization depict it, which is proof that this sport was in vogue 5000,years ago. Over the centuries Jallikattu apart from becoming  an integral part of Tamilian culture  has also emerged as a heritage sports. Protection of cultural heritage is as much a need as protection of human rights.

.Emotional outbursts do cloud judgement and my tweets earlier in the week did prove that.Yes I was wrong jumping to conclusion. If preventing cruelty to animals is that much a national priority then let us first close down all the slaughter houses in the country before we decide to trample a sport that is a cultural heritage of the Tamilians across the globe. A common man may be stupid but his collective outburst can be decisive. So stop bullying common man.

Let us protest the ban on "JALLIKATTU to protect the 5000 year old Tamilian heritage.

In conversation with Bapu....

With 'Sare Jahan Se Achcha' and 'Abide with Me'the Soul-stirring martial tunes and solemn drum beats at the majestic Raisina Hills the "Beating the Retreat" ceremony marked the conclusion of the week long ceremonial functions of India celebrating her 62nd year of Republic. As the illumination lit up the edifices of Imperial India..my thought reached out to that day into the history of independence that finally dropped the curtain on a life called "Gandhi"...the man whose experiment with truth may not have jelled with today but his name has truly become the brand that remain most misused & manipulated both in trade & politics. As I key-in these lines I can read out the conversation that would have transpired between the "soul of Nation" (SON) and "Mahatma Gandhi"(Bapu)....Read on what I read..... SON: Bapu it's me,are you sleeping....? BAPU: How can you ask that...don't you know this day in the year 1948..I was gu...

But 'PAPU' Can "Vote"...'Sala'..!

"Sala".. is a generally accepted slang for both 'hum' the "Hindustani" and 'tum' the "Indian". Together this "HUM TUM" make the "Aam Admi"of the world's largest 'democracy'. This is our "INDIA".I agree with the TV ad that almost says "My India Strongest" in spite of the "Everest" of issues that surround her. Normally in this country the fate of the 'ordinary' people ie 'Aam Admi' always remain woefully harassed, pushed and frustrated through the year. However at the close every 5 years this 'Aam Admi' suddenly become extraordinarily powerful and remain wooed by all 'big, small and sundry' political parties of the country. Yes it is time for General Election. In the coming months for the 15th Lok Sabha, 714 million eligible voters would be 'bee lining' to the ballot boxes across 29 states,6 union territories to elect 543 members . 'Jaago-...

My expiriment with "TRUTH"..

It was today but the year was 1981 and the day was probably a Saturday. I was there on the ceremonial stretch of "Raj path".There were about 4 lac people like me "all excited", getting ready for the "action shot" for Richard Atendbrough's film "GANDHI". The scene was Gandhiji's "funeral procession".I was wearing white khadi "Pajama & Kurta" which I bought from Khadi gram udyog at 'Regal building the previous evening. This was the recommended "dress code" for the shoot. Probably I never thought then that I was about to be part of a "live action crowd" of this magnitude that will never again be filmed. Soon the heavy camera's parked on the cranes started rolling. I lost the count of how many times those giant like cameras zoomed in and zoomed out of me. I was simply emotionally charged walking the stretch shouting "Vande Matram","Mahatma Gandhi" "AmarRahe"...
