If we can't smile, let's laugh it out..!
If India is young @ 65 why should I be called an old man @ 63 but I can't do anything about it because half of our population is less than 26 and that is a happy and cheerful note and sure makes us world's most enviable potential. If this precious human resources are tapped and developed in a positive way , there is no denying that 21st century will be ours for asking. Sadly our great parliamentary democracy has neither the will nor vision to tap this gushing energy.
Our National day celebrations remains reduced to rituals of pretending patriotism. These are the events which our Presidents and Prime Ministers use to brag about the 'Freedom struggle. They take this opportunity to talk of Nehru's vision and Gandhi's Stewardship and then leave behind trail of promises for growth development and wellness.
Sixty five years of talks and promises have passed yet we don't see any sweeping changes. Be it the economy, be it the infrastructure or be it the law and order machinery. Inflation continues to be a ' kite' souring the gloomy heights. Roads keep caving away\. Bridges don't stand. Drains keep chocking. Criminals have turned bold and beastly. Rapes are no more a breaking news ,it has simply become a daily bulletin. Our civic living is turning into a debatable talking point and remains entangled in governmental and local body buracracracy.
We are 1.4 billion strong democracy living in confusion. Almost 240 million of us consider our lives 'suffering' and just 13% of us say we are thriving. The international average for these suffering and thriving are 13 & 24 % respectively.
To-day the collusion politics is eating out the skin of the voters. Democracy has simply turned into drum beats that keep the voters dancing in futility. However there is hope still for us to raise up from muck and march ahead.Till then we have nothing to smile about... So what if we can't smile, let's laugh it out...HAPPY INDEPENDENCE....
