Birth year of a General.!

The New Year revelry that we saw in the city shows that sticky minds and filthy looks still remains a sign of chivalry among our youth. The police wielding the sticks was a well deserving action. Our police force may be harrasing but they surely remain politically the most harrased force in the country. They truly at times deserve our hearty compliments for sticking to their guns. On the other side our political forces continue to use us as the game to checkmate their political opponents . In year 2011 our politicians have also made us realize that all national movements linked to people are sheer tributaries that will eventually flow into the mainstream called politics. That proves Lok Pal was never a people's dream. It was and it will therefore continue to remain a political issue. Thanks to our politicians, the NGO's and the Civil society, for ensuring that this country never runs out of issues.

This month five out of the twenty nine states of our Republic will be facing the ballot boxes. This month the UPA may use the Food deficit bill as a carrot to win votes. This month may see Anna & his team hit by law of diminishing returns. This month may find the $ taking the steam off the rupee. I hope they are not predictions because predictions always remain scary!

This being January, let us talk of a clear sky and a fog free parade.I am totally exited looking forward for an impressive Republic Day parade at Rajpath and a magnificent Fly Past thereafter over the Rajpath. However I am sad that even showcasing of our Military might will not help our Defence forces to free themselves from the power of the politics ...

Our politicians have proved time again that they remain incapable in giving us a working government. However now they have gone and proved that they are capable of ruining the finest Army in the world by blowing up an issue out of the Birth year of a General..

In conversation with Bapu....

With 'Sare Jahan Se Achcha' and 'Abide with Me'the Soul-stirring martial tunes and solemn drum beats at the majestic Raisina Hills the "Beating the Retreat" ceremony marked the conclusion of the week long ceremonial functions of India celebrating her 62nd year of Republic. As the illumination lit up the edifices of Imperial India..my thought reached out to that day into the history of independence that finally dropped the curtain on a life called "Gandhi"...the man whose experiment with truth may not have jelled with today but his name has truly become the brand that remain most misused & manipulated both in trade & politics. As I key-in these lines I can read out the conversation that would have transpired between the "soul of Nation" (SON) and "Mahatma Gandhi"(Bapu)....Read on what I read..... SON: Bapu it's me,are you sleeping....? BAPU: How can you ask that...don't you know this day in the year 1948..I was gu...

But 'PAPU' Can "Vote"...'Sala'..!

"Sala".. is a generally accepted slang for both 'hum' the "Hindustani" and 'tum' the "Indian". Together this "HUM TUM" make the "Aam Admi"of the world's largest 'democracy'. This is our "INDIA".I agree with the TV ad that almost says "My India Strongest" in spite of the "Everest" of issues that surround her. Normally in this country the fate of the 'ordinary' people ie 'Aam Admi' always remain woefully harassed, pushed and frustrated through the year. However at the close every 5 years this 'Aam Admi' suddenly become extraordinarily powerful and remain wooed by all 'big, small and sundry' political parties of the country. Yes it is time for General Election. In the coming months for the 15th Lok Sabha, 714 million eligible voters would be 'bee lining' to the ballot boxes across 29 states,6 union territories to elect 543 members . 'Jaago-...

My expiriment with "TRUTH"..

It was today but the year was 1981 and the day was probably a Saturday. I was there on the ceremonial stretch of "Raj path".There were about 4 lac people like me "all excited", getting ready for the "action shot" for Richard Atendbrough's film "GANDHI". The scene was Gandhiji's "funeral procession".I was wearing white khadi "Pajama & Kurta" which I bought from Khadi gram udyog at 'Regal building the previous evening. This was the recommended "dress code" for the shoot. Probably I never thought then that I was about to be part of a "live action crowd" of this magnitude that will never again be filmed. Soon the heavy camera's parked on the cranes started rolling. I lost the count of how many times those giant like cameras zoomed in and zoomed out of me. I was simply emotionally charged walking the stretch shouting "Vande Matram","Mahatma Gandhi" "AmarRahe"...
