The "Belly" of our politicians

'Belly' is an important part of our anatomy. It can give us energy to fight for what is right. It can also starve us to death. It can also remain a power house of our greed. Having said this, I do have to say however that it seldom energies the aam aadmi enough to fight for what is right. Also an aam aadmi's 'belly' becoming his powerhouse of greed is an absolute myth. For an aam aadmi, more than often his belly becomes the cause of his death due to starvation...... The following immortal lines from the verse of one of the most significant poet of modern Hindi poet late "Suryakant Tirpathi Nirala" very aptly describes the fate of aam aadmi's belly...... .

Thanks to our elected parliament, the "aam aadmi" is living a dog's life with a "tale" that remains his plight for his very existence.

Post independence, the crop of politicians that we have in this country carry a 'Belly' that is a sheer power house of "GREED".The magnitude of their greed always remains in direct proportion to the political and social opportunities that they are able to nurse, manipulate and harness. For these politicians "patriotism" has never created any "fire in belly", neither has it ever energized them to fight for what is right....

Today in the name of political leadership we have nothing but an army of 'political hypocrites'. They individually and collectively continue to devalue, defame and derail the institute of democracy. 'Lokayukta' & 'Lokpal' can perhaps become an enabler to monitor politician's greed but if we aspire to truly become world's indispensable economy we need to quickly act to hound out ways to purge the "Belly" of our politicians"....

In conversation with Bapu....

With 'Sare Jahan Se Achcha' and 'Abide with Me'the Soul-stirring martial tunes and solemn drum beats at the majestic Raisina Hills the "Beating the Retreat" ceremony marked the conclusion of the week long ceremonial functions of India celebrating her 62nd year of Republic. As the illumination lit up the edifices of Imperial India..my thought reached out to that day into the history of independence that finally dropped the curtain on a life called "Gandhi"...the man whose experiment with truth may not have jelled with today but his name has truly become the brand that remain most misused & manipulated both in trade & politics. As I key-in these lines I can read out the conversation that would have transpired between the "soul of Nation" (SON) and "Mahatma Gandhi"(Bapu)....Read on what I read..... SON: Bapu it's me,are you sleeping....? BAPU: How can you ask that...don't you know this day in the year 1948..I was gu...

But 'PAPU' Can "Vote"...'Sala'..!

"Sala".. is a generally accepted slang for both 'hum' the "Hindustani" and 'tum' the "Indian". Together this "HUM TUM" make the "Aam Admi"of the world's largest 'democracy'. This is our "INDIA".I agree with the TV ad that almost says "My India Strongest" in spite of the "Everest" of issues that surround her. Normally in this country the fate of the 'ordinary' people ie 'Aam Admi' always remain woefully harassed, pushed and frustrated through the year. However at the close every 5 years this 'Aam Admi' suddenly become extraordinarily powerful and remain wooed by all 'big, small and sundry' political parties of the country. Yes it is time for General Election. In the coming months for the 15th Lok Sabha, 714 million eligible voters would be 'bee lining' to the ballot boxes across 29 states,6 union territories to elect 543 members . 'Jaago-...

My expiriment with "TRUTH"..

It was today but the year was 1981 and the day was probably a Saturday. I was there on the ceremonial stretch of "Raj path".There were about 4 lac people like me "all excited", getting ready for the "action shot" for Richard Atendbrough's film "GANDHI". The scene was Gandhiji's "funeral procession".I was wearing white khadi "Pajama & Kurta" which I bought from Khadi gram udyog at 'Regal building the previous evening. This was the recommended "dress code" for the shoot. Probably I never thought then that I was about to be part of a "live action crowd" of this magnitude that will never again be filmed. Soon the heavy camera's parked on the cranes started rolling. I lost the count of how many times those giant like cameras zoomed in and zoomed out of me. I was simply emotionally charged walking the stretch shouting "Vande Matram","Mahatma Gandhi" "AmarRahe"...
