Drawing 'attention' to being 'attractive'...

Historically speaking we have always remained a point of "attention" for the world around. It was the "East India" Company's attention that eventually turned us into a "British subject". Again our journey from being a "British Colony" to becoming an "independent India" saw us getting into a huge bandwidth of attention from across the globe. We hogged the lime light for our classic "freedom struggle", which remains the first ever "battle for freedom" based on the concept called "non violence".

Today in the free and a "Democratic India", we remain glorified for our poverty and slum dog culture. Besides all this, we do still keep the 'world's attention' for our 'spiritualism' and 'yoga'. Now since we continue to 'hog attention' of the 'world' around for one thing or the other, it doesn't make sense for me to keep going with such listing. I therefore like to move away from "drawing attention" to "being attractive". This draws my attention to a latest news item, that says that 'we' 'Indians' are the 8Th "most" "attractive People" in World. This to me is really interesting, pleasant and pleasing at the same time. You see being a hardcore "Indian" it makes me by default "attractive". Now I don't care , if you continue to find me an "ugly duckling", because I know I am an "Indian" and that I remain the 8th most attractive people around the world. You may call this power of "onePoll.com" but for me this is my confidence for moving myself from drawing 'attention' to being 'attractive'...what say "fair&lovely"..!

In conversation with Bapu....

With 'Sare Jahan Se Achcha' and 'Abide with Me'the Soul-stirring martial tunes and solemn drum beats at the majestic Raisina Hills the "Beating the Retreat" ceremony marked the conclusion of the week long ceremonial functions of India celebrating her 62nd year of Republic. As the illumination lit up the edifices of Imperial India..my thought reached out to that day into the history of independence that finally dropped the curtain on a life called "Gandhi"...the man whose experiment with truth may not have jelled with today but his name has truly become the brand that remain most misused & manipulated both in trade & politics. As I key-in these lines I can read out the conversation that would have transpired between the "soul of Nation" (SON) and "Mahatma Gandhi"(Bapu)....Read on what I read..... SON: Bapu it's me,are you sleeping....? BAPU: How can you ask that...don't you know this day in the year 1948..I was gu...

But 'PAPU' Can "Vote"...'Sala'..!

"Sala".. is a generally accepted slang for both 'hum' the "Hindustani" and 'tum' the "Indian". Together this "HUM TUM" make the "Aam Admi"of the world's largest 'democracy'. This is our "INDIA".I agree with the TV ad that almost says "My India Strongest" in spite of the "Everest" of issues that surround her. Normally in this country the fate of the 'ordinary' people ie 'Aam Admi' always remain woefully harassed, pushed and frustrated through the year. However at the close every 5 years this 'Aam Admi' suddenly become extraordinarily powerful and remain wooed by all 'big, small and sundry' political parties of the country. Yes it is time for General Election. In the coming months for the 15th Lok Sabha, 714 million eligible voters would be 'bee lining' to the ballot boxes across 29 states,6 union territories to elect 543 members . 'Jaago-...

My expiriment with "TRUTH"..

It was today but the year was 1981 and the day was probably a Saturday. I was there on the ceremonial stretch of "Raj path".There were about 4 lac people like me "all excited", getting ready for the "action shot" for Richard Atendbrough's film "GANDHI". The scene was Gandhiji's "funeral procession".I was wearing white khadi "Pajama & Kurta" which I bought from Khadi gram udyog at 'Regal building the previous evening. This was the recommended "dress code" for the shoot. Probably I never thought then that I was about to be part of a "live action crowd" of this magnitude that will never again be filmed. Soon the heavy camera's parked on the cranes started rolling. I lost the count of how many times those giant like cameras zoomed in and zoomed out of me. I was simply emotionally charged walking the stretch shouting "Vande Matram","Mahatma Gandhi" "AmarRahe"...
